London's Work Approval Permit covers any occupancy of a municipal road, sidewalk, or boulevard, including storing a bin or dumpster on the right-of-way. Applications go through the Public Property Compliance team at streetpermit@london.ca, submitted at least 7 days before the container is placed, with roughly 7 business days needed for city review. Occupancy longer than 30 days requires a licence agreement under Schedule 1 of the city's fees by-law, and security deposit amounts are set case by case.

By-law WM-12 requires the boulevard next to a property to stay clear of waste and sets rules for where receptacles can be placed. The by-law carries enforcement penalties, so a rented bin should stay contained within the permitted footprint rather than spilling debris onto the boulevard.

London's W12A Landfill at 3502 Manning Drive takes bagged household garbage, furniture, and recyclables, but does not accept construction and demolition waste directly. That material instead goes to one of four EnviroDepot locations around the city, open longer hours than the landfill and charging a flat rate per load rather than a per-tonne scale.

W12A Landfill tipping fees run on a weight scale, from $8 for loads under 100 kg up to $75 per tonne for anything over 1,000 kg, with business waste billed at a flat $75 per tonne. EnviroDepot renovation waste is priced by load instead: a $40 minimum, $75 for a car or SUV load, and $100 for a truck, van, or trailer load, paid by credit or debit only.

Household chemicals, automotive fluids like antifreeze and motor oil, batteries, fluorescent tubes, and pool or garden chemicals are all banned from regular garbage and recycling in London. The Household Special Waste Depot at 3502 Manning Drive accepts these free for city residents and small-quantity business disposals during its Monday to Saturday hours.

Ceramics such as toilets and sinks are accepted free for recycling at the Clarke Road EnviroDepot locations, and separating clean materials from mixed construction debris before drop-off avoids paying the higher blended rate that applies to unsorted loads.
