Applicants complete a Project Category Assessment, submit proof of insurance and a Prime Contractor Designation Form, and pay a damage deposit ranging from $2,600 to $20,500 depending on the scope of work. Staff review takes 5 to 10 business days, and the city states there are no refunds if scheduled work doesn't happen on the approved dates.

Inspectors apply a minimum surcharge to any New Westminster load found carrying banned material, so plan a separate hazardous waste depot run for these.

Clean wood and yard trimmings cost meaningfully less per tonne than mixed garbage at Metro Vancouver facilities. Pulling that material out of a New Westminster load before pickup is one of the few ways to trim the final scale weight.
